The Hancock Chamber of Commerce
MISSION STATEMENT The objective of this organization shall be to promote businesses and tourism in the Town of Hancock, Maryland and its immediate environs; to foster the development of existing businesses and attract new businesses to the Town of Hancock; to strengthen the ties between Hancock area businesses and various Federal, state, and local governmental organizations, Chambers of Commerce, and private organizations in furtherance of the interests of the membership.

RECENT IMPROVEMENTS TO THE WMRT IN THE HANCOCK AREA: Welcome banners have been installed on decorative poles with local business sponsors names. Covered pavillion with picnic table in Joseph Hancock Jr Park- Access ramp to Joseph Hancock Jr Park - Restooms - Pavement improvements at Taney Street and WMRT ON THESE HOT SUMMER DAYS REMEMBER TO KEEP YOUR WATER BOTTLES FILLED FRESH WATER AVAILABE AT THE BIG POOL ENTRANCE TO THE WMRT AT THE AC&T CONVENIENCE STORE AND IN HANCOCK AT THE C&O BIKE SHOP OR AT OTHER RETAIL FACILITIES IN TOWN

Hancock is nestled at the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains of Western Maryland along the banks of the Potomac River. We are minutes away from the borders of Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Hunting and fishing in the area has been a long standing tradition. Bicyclists, skaters, walkers, joggers, and natures lovers utilize the C&O Canal towpath and the Western Maryland Rail Trail, both just parallel to Hancock's Main Street. Camping, horseback riding, and boating also lend to Hancock's reputation for year round outdoor recreational experiences. As the saying goes, "It's always the quiet ones that you have to watch," and that stands true for the town of Hancock. For two and a half centuries we've been geographically positioned to witness the history of U.S. travel, commerce, and culture unfold. Now we'd like to share our heritage with you. An active Historical Society, Arts Council, and Chamber of Commerce, along with numerous churches and civic organizations, reflect our people's commitment to community. We love this picturesque Mason-Dixon Line town with its sense of nostalgia that is a complement to the revitalization improvements made by the town government. We hope this web site tour will result in a personal tour and visit to Hancock, Maryland.
